The S7-1200 PLCs come with #PROFINET ports for communication, but sometimes you might need to connect to machines using different ports like Profibus-DP, I/O Link, or AS-i. If you have to work with a machine that uses I/O Link and your #PLC only has a PROFINET port, you can add a communication module to your PLC.
